Sonar Project Update - Booster Application Conducted 8/14/19

Writer's picture: Tim LasekeTim Laseke

The Sonar project is showing favorable results with good control of the targeted weed Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM). This is the first year in many where no EWM is growing above the water surface in depths more than 5'. The plants are expected to continue decomposing and should not re-grow next season. We have been monitoring the product levels which have recently fallen below the target 2 parts per billion threshold. A booster application was conducted on 8/14/19 with an additional 190 lbs of the Sonar pellet formulation. We will continue to monitor chemical levels but don't anticipate another application will be necessary this season. We do expect to need a final boost application next spring in order to maintain 80% control of EWM for at least three years.
