PROJECTS UPDATE

Sonar Update –Tim Laseke filed the State of Wisconsin DNR permit application for the Spring bump of Sonar. The cost is estimated to be $10,000. Water temperature testing will start in May to determine when the final Sonar treatment will be administered.

Aquatic Plant Survey – Tim Laseke informed the commissioners that the cost to undertake a point-intercept plant survey in 2020 required by the State of Wisconsin is estimated at $4,000. This standardize sampling method helps us to see how Lake Denoon aquatic plant abundance compares among other lakes and assess the effectiveness of the Sonar treatments.

Monitoring Programs – By receipt of separate emails, we are informed that all monitoring programs are suspended including CLMN (lake), CBCW (invasive species), and WAV (tributaries). Some programs may open with limited activities following count, state and CDC COVID19-safe guidelines.

Clean Boats Clean Waters Grant – While the LDLD was approved for the Clean Boats Clean Waters (CBCW) grant program by the State of Wisconsin, the commissioners elected to suspend participation due to the Wisconsin Stay at Home Order. We would need to hire inspectors, train and log 200 hours of monitoring the public boat launches to be reimbursed by the DNR. The Stay at Home Order makes it difficult to implement the program currently.

NEW BUSINESS (No New Business)

ADJOURN: Kevin Kubacki motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Kathy Schauer and all approved. The meeting concluded at approximately 6:40 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Katherine Schauer, Secretary - Lake Denoon Lake District
